Odinga said in a service in Embakasi on Sunday that his main goal is to ensure that Kenyan rights under Ruto are respected.
“We don’t want to create anarchy in our country, but we fight for our rights and we have the right to speak the truth to the Kenyan people. The Bible says speak the truth and the truth will set you free,” Odinga said while pledging to lead more protests in Nairobi and other parts of the country on Monday.
Odinga dismissed Ruto’s accusations as an attempt to distract from the challenges ordinary Kenyans face, including the high cost of living Odinga launched protests on Monday since last week to force the government to address the high cost of living and protest the president’s victory, which he said was stolen in the election he won by President William Ruto in August 2022.
Police Chief Japheth Koome banned similar protests planned for Monday and Thursday and threatened to arrest anyone involved.

“These protests are illegal and we will not allow them,” said the GI, “We are ready as a security agency. Every corner of this country is safe.”
Ma Odinga said it was “the job of the police to protect peaceful protesters”.
“I call on Kenyans to join the peaceful protests in large numbers.Don’t be afraid of the police or tear gas,” Odinga said, blaming police for breaking up “peaceful” protests on Monday.
