Police are investigating an incident in which a 24-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a dispute over a cigarette in the Kariobangi area of Nairobi.
Cornelius Mangayo was stabbed in the armpit Monday morning during a fight with a certain Mohamud Mohamed after a misunderstanding.
The attacker pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed Mangayo in the left armpit, killing him instantly.
Police say the pair were at a nearby shop when an argument broke out over a cigarette that one of them was smoking.
“Some witnesses say that the deceased smoked too close to the attacker, which infuriated him, while others say that the attacker wanted to smoke a stick of wood.We are investigating the matter,” said the duty officer who arrived at the scene.
The assailant fled shortly after the incident and was not arrested.
According to police, the victim was taken by Good Samaritan to Mama Lucy Hospital, where she died of her injuries
No arrests have been made so far and efforts are being made to trace the attacker, said Nairobi Police Chief Adamson Bungei

Police reported that Patrick Gatundu was injured and taken to Ruiru Sub County Hospital where he was treated and discharged
